Southern Botanical Receives National Award of Excellence for Post Tornado Tree Restoration Project
(Dallas, Texas, September 17, 2024) – Southern Botanical is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Silver Award of Excellence by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).
The award-winning Dallas Tree Restoration Project showcases Southern Botanical’s expertise in landscape restoration and long-term tree care. On October 20, 2019, a catastrophic EF-3 tornado struck Dallas, causing over $2 billion in property damage and severely impacting a long-time client’s prized Live Oak trees. Despite the devastation, the client envisioned restoring these seemingly perished trees.
Over the next four years, Southern Botanical dedicated its efforts to this goal, implementing techniques such as vertical mulching, corrective pruning, tree injections, sprays, deep root fertilizations, and root flare exposure to stimulate root growth and canopy development. The success of these efforts was proven during a subsequent storm on May 28, 2024, when 80+ MPH winds damaged thousands of trees across the region. The once-ravaged Live Oaks stood firm, a testament to Southern Botanical’s effective and ongoing restoration efforts.
Each year, the National Association of Landscape Professionals Awards of Excellence highlights exceptional projects in commercial and residential landscaping across the U.S. In 2024, 246 awards were presented to companies for their outstanding work in the industry.
