Southern Botanical Receives National Award of Excellence for Tree Preservation Efforts at SMU 

(Dallas, Texas, September 17, 2024)Southern Botanical is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Silver Award of Excellence by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).

The award recognizes Southern Botanical’s outstanding work in preserving and maintaining some of the iconic Live Oak trees at Southern Methodist University (SMU) during a 3-year construction project. In 2021, SMU began an extensive renovation of its law building, posing a significant threat to 11 mature Live Oaks, each 75 years old and collectively valued at $2 million. Southern Botanical was tasked with protecting these trees throughout the construction process.

Each year, the National Association of Landscape Professionals Awards of Excellence highlights exceptional projects in commercial and residential landscaping across the U.S. In 2024, 246 awards were presented to companies for their outstanding work in the industry.
